We pride ourselves as being the premiere place to play outdoors with over 200,000 acres of national & state park sites for recreation and relaxation. While tourism is one of our chief industries and an attractive place for visitors, Crawford County also has acreage of opportunity for diverse business, innovation, industrial, and commercial ventures–with immediate access to river, road, rail, fiber, and air infrastructure.

Michael ThissenExecutive Director
Michael Thissen brings over 20 years of experience in the private, public, and academic sector as the Executive Director of the Crawford County (IN) Economic Development Partnership. Michael has developed a unique perspective/expertise with organizations such as the University of Southern Indiana (USI), The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), The State of Iowa’s Great Places Initiative, Target Corporation & Marriott International.
A proud member of Radius Indiana’s eight-county regional economic development organization, Michael serves on the Radius Board in this capacity and is committed to the regional growth of Southern Indiana.
Michael has been a collaborator on national, award-winning teams such as the lead convener of the inaugural Stellar Communities Program with OCRA and also as manager of the I-69 Innovation Corridor Consortium in Southwest Indiana Spearheaded by USI. Michael has been certified as a public innovator by the Harwood Institute and is a master facilitator with training from entities such as The Kauffman Foundation for Entrepreneurship, USI’s Center for Applied Research and Economic Development, and Purdue University’s Agile Strategy Lab.
Michael has served on various boards of directors and trustees and recently served as a commissioner on the Statewide Commission on Thriving Communities-Thriving State led by the Indiana University Public Policy Institute. He lives in rural Indiana with his family and Buddy the lovable pooch.
Mandi ElliottMarketing Coordinator
Mandi is a transplant from Houston, Texas who relocated after obtaining her bachelor’s degree. She spent two years in non-profit administration serving local organizations and will continue to serve local businesses through marketing. Professional Development is a personal passion of hers, and she greatly enjoys the learning opportunities that come along with Economic Development.

Jesse serves the organization by writing grants, conducting research, analyzing data, and helping to develop strategies to move forward.
