Thanks to the USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box Program, citizens of Crawford County were able to benefit from 2 food box distributions at the Marengo Underground Warehouse in Marengo, IN. The first food box distribution supplied families with both produce and dairy totaling 2,874 boxes. The second distribution consisted of giving away 1,056 boxes of dairy only. There was a bigger crowd the second round that led to the food distribution ending 30 minutes earlier than expected. Organizer and volunteer Savanna Saltsgaver said, “We knew after the first event that more people would be back. We wish we had more to give out, but we do not control those factors. The community is great to work with and all of us on the team are extremely happy that both events went smoothly, and we helped so many families in need during this time. As of now the grant has ran out, but we are always looking for opportunities that will benefit the people of Crawford County.”
